Become A Hospice Volunteer

Volunteer Program Mission

Volunteers are an integral part as well as indispensable to the delivery of services in hospice. Our goal is to provide the highest quality of volunteer services for patients and their families through effective use of volunteer's talents, skills, and expertise. Our program strives to enhance support and services to patients and their families while also working to increase community awareness of hospice.

Volunteer Opportunities

Support for Patients

Visits with patient, reading, listening, assisting with life review, taking walks, writing letters.

Respite and Family Support

Assisting with shopping or household maintenance; giving family members and caregivers time to run errands and get time away from the home.

Bereavement Support

Working closely with hospice staff in duties that include; making phone contacts, mailing bereavement literature to families.

Administrative Work

Serve by helping in office with administrative duties such as answering phones, filing, preparing mailings, etc.

Indirect Volunteers

Civic groups, classrooms, church organizations, or individuals can donate artwork, crafts, etc. to patients.

Requirements

Be a caring, compassionate, and non-judgmental person with a desire to enhance other's lives.

Be receptive to and in agreement with the hospice philosophy, agency policies and procedures.

Possess own means of transportation.

Complete volunteer application and training program.
